Hi!
We are Kristi and Marko, together with Emma and Eva – the people behind Hiiumaa Summerhouse. We spend a third of our lives on Hiiumaa, on the small island of Kassari, in the village of Orjaku.
In everyday life, Kristi works in marketing and communications, while Marko is a media professional and entrepreneur.
Although our work, studies, and city life are in Tallinn, Hiiumaa is the place where we come to ground ourselves – a space where time slows down, responsibilities fade, and the soul can truly rest.
We have travelled a lot and realized that we are drawn to places where tourism isn’t measured in mass. Places where you can listen to local stories, sit with someone at their kitchen table, and feel how people genuinely live. Where quality and simple luxury go hand in hand: you can wander freely during the day, but in the evening you want to return to a cosy, thoughtful, and comfortable space. We also value privacy and the ability to just be on our own.
This is exactly the kind of place we’ve created with Hiiumaa Summerhouse. It’s not just accommodation or a rental home. It is our home and our community, our stories and our life on the island. We are happy to host guests – to show them our homestead, share recommendations, talk about Hiiumaa customs, and highlight what is truly worth discovering here. At the same time, the house offers visitors privacy and quiet, surrounded by junipers and pine trees, away from big roads and city noise.
Hiiumaa Summerhouse is like a small island agriturismo – a private retreat with a heartbeat that follows the rhythm of local life. The host is often tinkering in his woodshop, while the hostess can be found in the garden or between the fruit trees. In the evenings, we gather in the outdoor kitchen or around the fire, bake pizza, and enjoy good company and the impressions of the day. Just a 15-minute walk away lies the world’s sweetest little harbour, a restaurant, cultural events, and boat trips that offer guests yet another window into island life.
